ERIC 2016, Leeds, October 2016
A paper titled “Using legacy systems to provide a paradigm shift in road services” has been accepted for presentation at the 1st European Road Infrastructure Congress, Leeds (UK), 18 – 20 October 2016. The paper, written by project partners Arup and Northamptonshire County Council, discusses the challenges facing the road infrastructure, and the needs to harness new technologies and data sources to address these challenges, and to adopt a “Smarter Mobility” methodology that recognises road infrastructure as part of a larger transport network in order to address the requirements of door-to-door multi-modal journeys. The paper introduces the oneTRANSPORT platform and discusses its capability to integrate both static and dynamic data from legacy and new road sensing technologies and systems which provides a cost-effective approach towards the realisation of the Smarter Mobility vision.
